Born in Negrar, Verona, in 1993, he started playing golf at age of 3 at the Golf Club Villafranca.

For three seasons, from 2012, he has played with the attachment of the Royal Park I Roveri.

In 2009, at the age of 16, he won the British Amateur Championship, one of the two Major for amateurs.

With this victory Matteo sets the record for youngest winner of the tournament and first Italian, guaranteeing the invitation to two Major: the Open Championship and the Masters.

During the Open Championship at Turnberry in 2009, he was the best amateur in the tournament.

At the age of 16 years, 11 months and 22 days, in 2010, Manassero took the South African Bobby Cole records (that resisted since 1967), becoming the youngest player to pass the cut of the Masters, finishing in 36th place.

Professional in May 2010, decided to make his debut at the Italian Open at the Royal Park I Roveri, closed in the first 30.

Invited then to England to play the BMW PGA Championship at Wentworth closed the tournament in 17th place.

October 2010, Manassero won the Castelló Masters in Spain becoming 17 years, 6 months and 5 days, the youngest ever winner of a European Tour tournament. The record was previously held by New Zealander Danny Lee, winner in February 2009 of Johnnie Walker Classic.

November 2010, he was awarded in the Wentworth title "Sir Henry Cotton Rookie of the Year" on the European Tour, recognition given in the past also to Nick Faldo, Tony Jacklin, Sandy Lyle, José María Olazábal and Colin Montgomerie.

April 2011, he won his second tournament of the European Tour, winning the Malaysian Open played at Kuala Lumpur Golf & Country Club.

November 2012, Matteo won the Barclays Singapore Open overcoming an eagle at the third hole playoff to the South African Louis Oosthuizen, becoming the first teenager to win three tournaments on the European Tour.

May 2013, winning the prestigious BMW PGA Championship at Wentworth Golf Club after a four-hole playoff against Simon Kahn and Marc Warren, becoming the youngest winner in the tournament's history.
