Designed in 2006, the second course bears the signature of architect Michael Hurdzan, father of some of the best courses in North America and international speaker on the subject of the environmental impact of golf. The collaboration was with Dana Fry. This was the first time he had ever designed a course in Europe, and he brought his philosophy to bear in harmonising the unspoilt natural landscape with the course.
The design intent was not to match the more mature Allianz Course by Trent Jones Sr. but rather complement it through a relatively flat open course where the constructed ponds and bunkering are used as principle hazards.
